Are you tired of the same old food all the time? I have found that no matter how much I enjoy a food, the thrill of it gets stale at some point. I have gone through periods of eating the same foods over and over again and really enjoying them…for a while. I have found that when my diet lacks variety, I become a little lazy with how I take care of myself in that arena. I realized that what happens is that the boredom sets in and I am off looking at other foods which are going to make me feel bloated and uncomfortable to combat the boredom. Sometimes this wandering away from the “safe” foods I have been eating turns into a little bit of overindulgence. When this kind of thing happens for a few days in a row, I have found that I have put on 2 or 3 lbs and I realize it’s time to get a hold of what I am doing and make a change.
One of the things I often do when this happens is to look in the wonderful cookbooks I have for new recipes. I pick 2 or 3 somewhat simple recipes that have healthy ingredients and I get to work on preparing them right away. The new aromas and tastes are such a welcome change and in a day or two, those couple of pounds are gone. The advice here is to try not to repeat your food selections too often during the week. Always be on the lookout for new taste sensations and remember that variety is the spice of life.
